The town’s Christmas Lights spectacle has been organised since 2010 by a small group of volunteers who work throughout the year to maintain, repair and store all the features and then in October start to erect them throughout the town. Once they are switched on the volunteers maintain the display and after Twelfth Night take them all down and start again on the repairs. Over the last eight years the Trust has raised many thousands of pounds to purchase this display for the town which now consists of 163 features. This happy band of Santa’s elves donate around 800 man hours to the lights project, year in year out and are happy to do this for the town. In addition to this work the Trust also organises and raises funds for a “switch on” event and this year it will be on Saturday 23rd November.
